Is LegalShield worth your money? 

Let’s face it, life isn’t always fair. And for a young adult seeking financial independence, unfair moves can sometimes cause financial stress. Sometimes we face problems that don’t have simple quick-fix solution. These are the times when having on-call legal help comes in handy.

I had a situation last month where my wife got into an accident and totaled her car. Luckily, she was okay. However, now we had to deal with a car that wasn’t paid off. That meant I had to start going back and forth with my insurance company providing what they needed, finding out what the bank needs from me, figure out how gap insurance works, etc. The gap insurance requested that I provide reports of my payments made to the bank AND the car dealer. Now, the way I bought my car and what we went through is a story I will be going over when I talk to you guys about the Do’s and Don’t’s about car shopping but for now we will stick to the legal stuff.

I tried calling the dealer on multiple occasions and was unsuccessful. Over the next couple of days, I still could not get a hold of them. So I hopped in my car to personally request my statements at the dealership. To my surprise, the dealership was gone! The whole lot was empty, office was vacant and the website was wiped clean. I called the BBB, DCP, the local business licensing office and even sent a certified letter to get information about who I need to continue paying.

At this point I was frustrated because I never missed a payment and I was always easy to work with and never asked for too much. They never notified me that they would be going out of business and by the looks of the reviews I found online, I was not alone. As far as I know, the business was closed, the dealer disappeared, and I don’t know who is taking payments out of my account and where my money was going.

I watched my account over the next week to see if any payments to the dealer are going out because they were on Autopay and for the past two months, no payments were taken out. Another week goes by and BOOM! Two payments were taken out. One right after the other! I asked myself, if the business is closed and the dealer is nowhere to be found, who is taking money from my account?

I didn’t really know who to call and ask for advice. Then it dawned on me, I needed a lawyer! Of course, right after the thought of a lawyer, my wallet started to hurt. That’s where LegalShield comes in. My buddy at work, Eric, mentioned that he is an affiliate for LegalShield and could hook me up. That night, I hopped online and signed right up. It cost me just about $30 to get set up; $10 for a processing fee and $19.95 for the first monthly payment of my Family Plan.

The second I got that email with my member number, I figured I would try it out and see what all the fuss was about. I heard so much about LegalShield and thought that it was about time for me to put it to the test. I called the law firm to tell them about my situation and see what they could do for me. The kind lady on the phone asked me a few questions and within an hour, I got a call from an actual lawyer! We chatted about what I did and what I should expect going forward. He told me that if the car dealer or anyone else starts causing me trouble, to give him a call.

Finally, I got that sense of relief that I was desperately looking for. Even if I ended up having to go to court, I still have pre-trial and defense trial time I could use. It’s great! I’m not paying a ton of money for legal services and I’m still getting top-notch help. And in the case that I feel like I need more trial time, they have an extra trial defense supplement package that you can add on for about $10.

I feel like it’s important for me to mention that before I spend my money on anything, especially something regularly debiting my account, I do very extensive research on what I’m getting into. So far, I have found out that they have been in the business for 41+ years, they have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau with a 4.5 consumer rating average and they are missing ahead of their competitors as far as price, quality and customer service goes. So far so good.

Like many other things on the internet, you have people that are happy with LegalShield and those who are not. I respect everyone’s opinion. I talked to people I know who have also tried or have LegalShield and I haven’t heard anything negative. People seem to be really satisfied with how LegalShield is progressing as a company. I also dug deep into Social Media (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter,…) to see what real consumers are saying about their experience with the prepaid legal services. After combing through all the spam of people trying to sell you stuff, I managed to find genuine testimonials.

LegalShield is definitely a must have for today’s young adult. Just the accessibility alone, like the app and easy to use systems, is a huge win! What won me over was the customer service. For me, that is the most important selling point. Law Firms want to be a part of LegalShield. It provides constant clientele and they are very well paid. LegalShield cares about what the end consumer thinks about the law firm that they were assigned to. LegalShield wants to make sure that the millions of dollars that they are paying these lawyers is not going to waste. That means that you are only getting the best of the best and not some small-time maybe decent attorney for your hard-earned $20 dollars a month.

I highly recommend getting LegalShield to protect you from bullies who like to take advantage of the little people like you and myself.
